Reviews of the BLU-RAYBD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player (the is no difference in the basic specifications for the
Region A version and the region A and B multi-region version so that all articles are available on both versions.)
It's good: Excellent image quality on Blu-ray movies; outstanding soundtrack support with onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD High Resolution and bitstream output for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; relatively low price compared to other standalone Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray DiscPlayer s, Ethernet port for updating firmware.
MDOJ,
My BD-P1400 arrived late yesterday! The firmware was updated last night via the Internet to download and burn a CD. First impressions:
Video – !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Audio – !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI: There is no picture or sound quality difference, or any other kind of difference in the U.S. Region AVersion of the Multi-County Region A and B version of the Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player.
I tried a normal DVD and Germany so far and I am very satisfied. Load
Times are very acceptable. No negatives from me so far on this device. Will
Report more later if I get some of the seemingly problematic brds.
The BD-P1400 has classic Samsung style. The front of the unit is all glossy black, with a thin strip of silver along the bottom.
Got my SamsungBD-P1400 last night and boy, I was excited! Before this review, let me say that this is the first and only Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player that I've owned, and I did not do some of the comparisons that you are looking to start, too . If I do not do it, just lemme know! I would also say that I do not have the latest firmware upgrade yet as my modem is not a television set nearby.
Picture
Excellent, duh …… Inky black, good contrast, detail, what you expect fromBlu
Design: Wonderful looking BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player, the best guess yet, I do. Face is very open, uncluttered, and the piano gloss finish rocks. Good remote control.
Loading Wonderful. I have 5 movies so far, and they all loaded in approx. 15 seconds. Then there was the new F4 Silver Surfer …. This is a BD + titles from Fox and many have had complaints about the charging time. The BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player gave me no problem, and the multi-region version from PlanetOmni is still incredible. Let me say again that this is right out of the box, no firmware update yet!
FYI: There is no picture or sound quality difference, or any other kind of difference in the U.S. region one version of the Multi-County Region A and B version of the Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player.
Sound
I was not with the sound of how much I do not have my Onkyo TX-SR705 not played yet. I noticed that it set one way, the speakers from small to large5.1-in analog mode. There are other discussions and reports of people, always full DTS-MA bitstream from this BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player (after firmware upgrade) in other threads and forums. I am always excited to try it!
Other
The rest of the stuff is pretty standard. 128x max forward, takes the same position in the film unit also turned off by, pretty good response from remote keys, etc.
All in all, this is a dynamite BD-P1400 Blu-RayDisc player. With the firmware upgrade is this guy pretty much what can you expect from a blu-ray do BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player now!
In addition to Blu-ray discs, the Samsung BD-P1400 can play standard-definition DVDs and CDs.
FYI: There is no picture or sound quality difference, or any other kind of difference in the U.S. region one version of the Multi-County Region A and B version of the Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player.
TheBD-P1400 PBD-high-resolution soundtrack support is excellent. There is onboard decoding for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD High Resolution, which they can issue these soundtracks either in PCM format means using the HDMI output or via the analog outputs. For newer receivers, the BD-P1400 also offers bitstream output for high-resolution soundtracks. So, if you already have a newer receiver with built-in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, you can use the BD-P1400 to output audio-setencrypted via HDMI bitstream format – let your receiver to decode instead of the BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player.
There should be absolutely no sound quality difference if you or the recipient to decrypt the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player decode, but some AV fans love it, the "Dolby TrueHD can be" light on their new receiver. If you are converting a code free DVD Disc Player for $ 79.95 Planet Omni is that they come with 2 warranties. PreviouslyI am very happy with this purchase. I was not sure whether I read the right business because of the negative reviews, but I bought it anyway.
I really do not know why people get upset when it only takes two minutes to ready to play. I've rented it several times, with Blu-Ray discs from Netflix with no problems. I am still waiting for free on the eight films.
Connectivity is also solid. There is an HDMI output can carry, including 1080p video signals and high-resolutionAudio.
For high-def analog video, there is a component video output (1080i) is restricted and there is an S-video output and composite output for standard-def output. (As with all DVD BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player s, there is no DVD upscaling available via component video). On the audio side there are the aforementioned HDMI output, with 5.1-channel analog outputs both optical and coaxial digital audio outputs and stereo analogOutputs.
Rounding out the connectivity is an Ethernet port to which the firmware update from the Internet – a feature that allowed this practice, HD-DVD player, but very rare among Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player .
FYI: There is no picture or sound quality difference, or any other kind of difference in the U.S. region one version of the Multi-County Region A and B version of the Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player.
The BD-P1400 has a good job of providing the Opening sequence from Star Trek: Insurrection down, demonstrating its 2:3 pull-ability. The next step was Seabiscuit, and the BD-P1400 has a fixed point in introducing difficult, with few, no anti-aliasing on the black and white photos.
MDOJ,
Just a quick update of Samy BD-P1400. I rented some BR's from Netflix and really enjoyed the BD-P1400 – how about you? All the techno-jargon aside, as far as I'm concerned this is a great BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc> Music player.
I hope that the head will make dudes responsible for this forum is a sticky for the Samsung BD-P1400 – hint – hint! Home videos you see here … not save.
The Samsung is a really good device for the price. The multi-region version is only $ 849.95 from Planet Omni use it, and taking account of dual motherboard specifically introduced a fortune and the hard work it is a real bargain, IMHO should cost.
I had my device directly into my modem plug with aNetwork cable (for Samsung's instructions in the manual) and the BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Players found it loaded the new firmware and get it without the need for me on the computer, burn disks … etc. Very cool.
The Samsung has a great image and with the current update I can hear DTS-HD Master Audio (Sony can not say that for twice the price!).
Think with the pace at which the technology I moved, it is very difficult for a manufacturer for the production of theseUnits, they get into the market and they have very topical "with the new disk technology (which changes daily), but Samsung has provided me with a unit that I can plug straight into my modem and get an update if they it is available. I think that is amazing.
A little patience and understanding can go a long way. After all … It was not so long ago that the purchase of an electronic component, you can not update it at all. I am sure that Samsung comes through with an update soon. Inot run into any disks I could not play, still.
Since I have never seen a 1200 in action, I can not help you – but the BD-P1400 PQ is excellent, but that's what all about Blu – is not it?
I've tried several BD from Netflix and a few standard-def DVD's. All were great. As far as the handshake problem, I'm not really sure what this is …. and for the off, then fall to play … why would you want to do that anyways in a movie?
Great BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player, II could not be more happy the new BD-P1400 last week. 1200 they brought it. (plus 100 price difference in my favor. PROS = the image quality is had by far the best of what I've seen, even better, then I panny.
Controls are simple and the setup as well. I do not know how he will lose the signal at the beginning of the slices.
AUDIO = I am not able to exploit all audio functions, based on my Onkyo a few years old. I have it setup with a digital optical cable, the sound is really excellentwith the exception of the Pops, I now and then.
As with the BD discs, POTC approximately 2 minutes, had no problem and the multi-region version from Planet Omni will be even more incredible, with other BD movies. I noticed that after I would hit pause and went to play made the film to play for a minute and then stop. I'd suggest to play again. No big deal.
Used the Ethernet port to download new firmware, can not say whether the difference is. I'm sorry I'm not that technical, but this ismy blue collar review. all ?????? s I am the best that I can answer
Just finished watching Casino Royale – spectacular!
I have a Playstation 3, the stunning picture quality for both Blu-Ray and upscaling of DVD standard has been a software upgrade. We use this for our main HD TV in the living room. I needed a BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player for HD-TV for a second we'd just hung in our bedroom.
I waited for the BD-P1400 will be available because I have already committed to theBlu-Ray format and wanted the latest technology available. I can not say enough about the sound quality that the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player offers, it's unbelievable. The picture quality is excellent and on par with the Playstation 3 I am thinking seriously about buying a second BD-P1400 for our main set because of the outstanding sound. Great BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player especially for the money.
By far the best Blu-ray I've ever tested. Never watch cartoons but now I amspend much time watching with my children.
This is a great Blue Ray BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player. DTS-HD MA bitstream eventually. I have this product for about two months in possession and am excited about it, it's really a good deal. I only use my Blu Ray BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player Blu Ray movies, as the sound plays directed into a Samsung 5-disc receiver. The picture quality is amazing. I own four Blu-Ray discs (I) bought from Amazon at $ 14.99 per person and all of themnice to play without problems, and the multi-region version from Planet Omni is still incredible, and a crystal clear picture.
I bought the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player in December. I hung it with an HDMI cable to a Sony receiver. The Comcast cable box is connected to the receiver. The receiver is connected to a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma 1080P. Three HDMI cable, that's it.
It has worked without problems from the start with all Blu-Ray disc, wehave tried. We get about a week from Netflix. I can play Pirates of the Caribbean 3rd Not sure why the other reviewers did not.
The picture quality is stunning with the planet Earth. I think I can, the Panasonic TV, especially for this credit.
I have the version 1.2 firmware upgrade in December. I have just the version 1.5 firmware upgrade yesterday 5th February. I downloaded both the ISO CD.
For me, it works quickly. So you have a couple of seconds to wait until the boat up to, so what? GoGet the DVD while you wait.
Most computer to boot now take minutes. I think it will never get better, probably, over time probably worse, since these are basically computers, and technological advances, these machines are slower to activate and load.
After I update the firmware, I had checked my settings and found they were reset. If you have a digital receiver, you should make sure that the audio to "bit-rate is set and not PCM if you surround –Sound.
I also had no problem, and the multi-region version from Planet Omni will be even more incredible to play regular CDs or DVDs. So if it is outdated, it is my other DVD BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player and improve the quality of regular DVDs will be replaced with my other older 720P Samsung.
I do not think that anyone would think delay, because the format war. Once you buy something today, it is obsolete and will eventually throw away this book. So youenjoy at least while you can life is too short. At the prices today, what the hell, it is advantageous to buy now before the dollar is worthless! You can create a whole home theater 1080P HDMI-based system with speakers for less than $[...] right now. Thank you China! I have my HDMI cable from Planet Omni, $ 19.95 for 2 meter length, excellent picture and sound!
Before I joined this, I updated the firmware via the Ethernet port. Once that was done, I had no problem and the multi-regionVersion of Planet Omni is still incredible, installed with the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player. I wondered whether or not to buy, so at some negative reviews, but the business was simply too good to be losing out on a stand – alone. Those of you who have had problems with the BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Players have every right to complain about it, here, that's what these contributions are.
However, people do not complain to 1.1 or 2.0 (no BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Playershould not stop rate is still 2.0). Nowhere in the description because this is supposed to be BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player 1.1. If you want to tell people there are updates and follow the BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player can not be granted, go ahead, but to say it is awful and outdated, as it is than 1.0 misleading. I have a feeling that most people only want the movie and would rarely use the features) of 1.1 (like picture in picture comment.
If theYou, the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player is perfect. If you are a 1,1 BD-P1400 Blu-Ray disc player, get the Panasonic. For me, this will be a fine for the next few years to work, while Blu-ray is its act together and closes an emerging product. I hope that those of you that could have been resolved issues from it and now can the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player to enjoy as I did.
I have had no problem, and the multi-region version from Planet Omni will be evenunbelievable with the Samsung BD-P1400-PBD. I pocketed it, combined it with the Internet and began with the firmware upgrade utility. After about 20 minutes, the firmware update was successful and I played my first movie without a glitch. Every film I've played since has also played without problems. You can also upgrade the firmware by burning a CD or if you have no Internet access, Samsung will send it to you.
This product runs it flawlessly on Blu-ray discs, even on non-European formatDVDs and music on CD-ROMs. I have found no problem, and the multi-region version from Planet Omni will be even more incredible to him. It is also done an excellent job of showing plain DVDs on my 40 "TV, where my previous DVD BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player would only be a part of the screen.
A clever touch and undocumented is that it tries to choose the right TV input once a disk is inserted. It can help to ensure that the TV and a Samsung.
I have this on Nov.30, 2007, and in contrast towhat other reviewers have said, the BD-P1400 will start again where you left off. Everything else looks and works fine.
I am editing this review on 13 March 2008, to reflect my experience with the device. It seems to me, whether a DVD back to the start, stops when he is depends on how the DVD was produced, not on the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player. Some DVDs like "Lost Season 3", not even chapter / scene-makers at them, let alone the possibility, after a rebootstop.
Some DVDs, like "3:10 to Yuma", actually a separate system for identification when you stop or where you want to go back, but otherwise require start from scratch. But do not start some new DVDs when stopped.
My chief complaint with Blu-Ray (not necessarily with the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player in particular) that it takes forever to start a DVD, if you have a DVD that will not be restarted where it stopped, you have to go through the tediouslong start-up again.
I have not stopped to view a DVD, which she learned to shut down the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player after a few minutes causes. Instead, I think it's about 1 / 8 speed, then when I get back, I can simply back to where I was – much faster than starting a new.
If there is a better BR BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player anywhere near that price range, I've never heard of it. Now that HD DVD is dead, I hope that DVD manufacturers will direct their attention to BRDVDs work easier and faster.
This is a great player. The only problem is the firmware update. I used to burn CD-R/RW method … The easiest and fastest. Burn *. iso image with Nero Burning ROM software. The instructions are in support [...]/. I have both HD DVD and Blu-ray. as far as blu-ray is better. HD looks like upconverted DVD. Read the instructions exactly does the new Blu-ray "Live Free Die Hard" contains a note to let the software upgrade may be required.
FinallyRemember, this is HDMI 1.3 compatible … Take maximum advantage of 1.3 functionality, you need a cable-TV and the HDMI 1.3 compatible …. the picture is great. Buy this BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player and update the software immediately.
I have read and continue to numerous complaints about the different Blu-ray and HD-DVD BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player s view is not working as hoped people. I can say that with this model, I have had absolutely no problems.
I'm sure some peoplerequire that it is not loaded or not do this, but it was not for me. I do not have a single CD, which has not played perfectly. What people have to remember is that in today's all like a computer, you can upgrade, it is a part of life now, get, over it.
Will the manufacturer at some point this impeccable, probably so, but in the meantime I will enjoy being my movies now. If you are an early adopter, as I am on the technology that case all the points that you could runIn there will be no big deal. The BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc Player is easy to setup, easy to play and loads very quickly. Glad I bought it and even thought about a second one for different rooms.
Satisfaction with this product. Greatly improved my regular DVD's. I was really surprised about this claim, but the Samsung is not as advertised. The Blu-ray disc audio is very good. Can not wait until this mount with my new surround system.
This product is money well spentfor the viewing pleasure there is. I recommend this product.
For the price it is to steal one. The audio and video quality here is great, the quality and choice of Blu-ray is top notch and we can pretty sure you will always be Blu-ray movies for many years to come. One of the better options for a specific BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player, if you are not interested in the PS3.
Before deciding to purchase my Samsung BD-P1400, I studied manythese customer reviews and they were very useful. I also read a special AV Science Forum online on this model BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player. Firstly, all the information and customer reviews highlight the endemic problem that the implementation of the newer Blu-Ray standard is gradually occur. In addition, functions are developed, which means that we all take some chances if we do not buy Blu-Ray BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Disc Player (which is) not a PS3.
I have personallyno interest in holding a game console. Second, many of these reviews are described in meticulous detail the nature of the problems that people who are, and whether and how the issues are resolved. This review adds to data of this second category – practical problems.
When my BD-P1400 Blu-Ray disc player was the first thing that I have the latest firmware from the Samsung website has been downloaded and installed. I suggest the method that uses a CD, but as a directNetwork connectivity, in both cases, the manuals and web site offer complete directions. * Be sure to confirm that the update was successful * restart the BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player, re-insert the firmware CD, and comparing the disk version of the installed version.
What problems did I have? Observed in a month to Netflix discs I have not had a single hiccup, not a single blue screen, no refusals had in each of the BD or SD-play discs that others have problems with – I* nothing * to have had perfect performance! Although some of the other criticisms, such as slow controls related to the technology. But my BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player is flawless and my expectations were surpassed. Without hesitation, I give my BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player five stars.
Pros: My favorite feature by far, the 24 frames per second output mode. Movies display exactly as they were intended – whether good or bad – and "jerky" inslowly swiveled scenes improved significantly compared to 30 FPS. This alone, in my opinion, justify the relatively modest price. [A direct comparison with my 50 "plasma TV, the video quality of movies from the BD-P1400 significantly superior at 24 FPS the same disc if by advanced computer video cards, played with the same! Cost I] also like the features and layout of the remote control that doubles on my Samsung TV control. Yes, these basic functionsIn the area of the Blu-Ray, but they are implemented very competent.
Cons: My one is petty, that I was a set-up feature that allows the audio and video outputs like relative to each other are delayed by a selectable gain. This would allow for a perfect lip-sync, if the older (ie slower) audio decoder / receiver, not HDMI 1.3 compatible. However, to my knowledge, this feature is * not * be offered any new Blu-ray BD-P1400 Blu-ray Disc player, asthe HDMI 1.3 standard includes an automatic synchronization function, when all components are HDMI 1.3 compatible.
Perhaps I've been lucky, but I did not build a single 'playability' problem with the latest of the latest firmware. On the basis of this – 5 stars.
Let's hope that this model, Samsung will continue to support the further optimization of the operational firmware, as needed.
Coming soon: Outstanding image quality — my wife and I say, even for stills, "PolaroidPicture! "Breathtaking.
The device has the necessary connections. I play it through a Yamaha AV-Tuner with 7.1 channels via HDMI, but other connections.
There is a simple blue-on-ring-off switch and open a drawer-close button that, on the on-board controls. The remote has several levels of complexity: It is easy to find and use the force pause-play-rewind-fast/slow controls you will use 99% of the time. The remote control also offers movie menu controls(eg language), player controls and menu options to learn — to control other devices that use them only if / when you need them. There was absolutely no organization to do — Plug and Play! Great neuro-ergonomics, ie, intuitive user experience.
In more than three weeks of regular use, we have found some problems, but it is not clear whether it is the player himself or the new technology. Several times the device went into the "Stop" mode, as if the button was pressed, I'd beat"Play" to get to the movie, once again. Slightly annoying.
What do I want? Perhaps controls for the AV amp as well, although the device all the buttons for TV, players and amplifiers are needed. Maybe better backlighting on all keys. This is one hell of a lot is recommended that a desire to blu-ray.
Good BluRay DVD. Easy to use. High definition DVD's look great but regular DVD's look better.
No problems yet to be found.
1400, the Samsung issignificantly better than the Toshiba HD-A3. The BD-P1400 supports not only TrueHD, DTS-HD MA bitstream output, but via HDMI. The A3 can only extract the DTS core "and can not bitstream DTS-HD MA out. Only the HD-A35 and the XA2 can do, but also considerably more expensive than players. The BD-P1400 is also full 1080p/24 video output, while the A3 can only send 1080i and does not support 24fps output.
Both are slow to load, but the A3 is significantlyslower, taking almost the full 2 minutes to warm up the players and the video display on the monitor / screen. The PS3 takes less than 30 seconds btw. The A3 is also very loud, very confusing, because there is a high pitched noise that is hard to ignore.
Overall, the BD-P1400 is supported with a high functioning blu-ray stand-alone player, lossless audio output (PCM, TrueHD and DTS-HD MA), and 1080p/24. I would recommend another four hundred U.S. dollars on the PS3BD-P1400, but if you really want a standalone player, you can not go wrong with the BD-P1400.
I do not actually own players, but I have a friend, bought, and he loves it.
This is an excellent Blu-Ray and I am very satisfied with my purchase, I recommend this player for all and the price is great.
It lasted not disappoint in the slightest. I have no problems playing a DVD, Blu-ray or not. I did not have a firm resolve to ANY Download SoftwareAsk. The BD-P1400 works directly out of the box. The only thing that comes close to a con is that they start-up and store's slow.
I am very satisfied with this player and I'm happy. I do my report is that it worked so far, and I have recommended it to many of my friends when asked for an opinion.
Works wonderfully with my new Samsung plasma … Have expressed no problems with other reviewers. Connected with a HDMI to TV and digital audio on Home Theater … Breathtaking PQ and sound.
The Blu-Ray player is first class. Easy setup. This is my first Hi-Def player, and I am very happy with my purchase. I have the latest firmware update in accordance with the instructions in the manual, and it was working properly. The player has a modern, smooth, shiny surface. The sounds are incredible, and the pictures are too beautiful to describe. Very easy to install and use. I never knew the difference that a Blu-ray> Players can compete in the movies. I'm no expert, just a normal mother that the Blu-ray player for the family just bought.
I have this player for about a month now had … After updating the firmware, it was perfect. Amazing picture, quiet unit that looks good in the entertainment rack along with my HD-DVD player.
The upconversion is wonderful! Best part is, I can optical applications and benefit from the new audio codecs.
I givePlayer 5 stars!
Not a single problem. I have it in trouble with 2 "clearance on top and back open with no overheating problems. Imprisoned None of my films have or have not been able to play. I have tried Live Free or Die Hard, all the Harry Potters , Planet Earth and others. Firmware 1.5 arrived on 24 January, and it seemed to have fix all the problems were, among others. I would definitely recommend this player to others.
I have a PS3 and a Sony 300 SBlu-ray player, and they are both excellent blu-ray player. But, I love my new Samsung BD 1400 DTS-HD audio decoding, and it makes for a wonderful movie watching experience. The first thing you should do a new owner, is samusung.com a download of the latest firmware update (it is) a quick simple procedure. There are also references to the user manual that explains how to update the player. I have the latest Blu-ray Disc releases from Fox, Disney, Sony, etc., and sawThe picture and sound quality is excellent. Very satisfied with the product.
